As I concentrated on the stone I had chosen, I was surprised to see that it seemed to have the form of a mother with her arm around a child, which she held upon her lap. They both faced to their right, looking downward together, as parent and child might read a book or gaze upon some scene. This image was no doubt evoked from my imagination by the deeply comforted feeling I experienced as I held the stone. As a Water element stone, Lemurian Aquatine Calcite resonates with all beings of the water realm. My intuition suggests that those of us who wish to find a way into a rapport and communion with the cetaceans could be aided in this intention by Lemurian Aquatine Calcite, as already mentioned. Not only do its currents ripple through your being like water, they also circulate within the heart in a way that helps transmit our inner call to those able to feel it and respond.

I have had the experience of being on a boat and hoping for whales to come. With no other way of communicating with them, I centered my awareness in the heart and called to them from there. To my great astonishment and delight, and though our boat was completely surrounded by fog, six whales swam to us and played nearby for over an hour, coming so close we could have real eye contact with them. Another time, in the Caribbean, I sent this heart call to the dolphins, and they also came to our boat. I think this is no special talent of mine but rather a natural communion that we can enter into by centering in our heart and reaching out to these beings of the water realm. All of these images and memories came back to me as I contemplated this stone. I feel that the mood it takes me into is a deeper version of the same inner state from which I had apparently connected with cetaceans previously. My felt sense is that we may be able, with practice, to do more than call these beings. We might be able to feel their inner gestures and know them. If we simply begin with the intention, the state we enter through resonance with this lovely and comforting stone engenders a natural entrance into empathy.
