"Rainbow Ammonite is the name given to a group of ancient gemstones that cross over the line between animal and mineral life. These are the fossilized imprints of ancient Ammonite mollusks, which have, over millions of years, transformed into spiral-formed gemstones with a red-toned opal-like internal fire. Rainbow Ammonite has been found in Canada and Morocco, but the recent specimens discovered in Madagascar are the finest we have seen.
